Cured of blindness - Giving people a new lease of life
Thanchowk is a village in the Manang district of Nepal. Many of the residents live an isolated, remote life tucked away from the rest of the world.
Jun Maya Gurung has lived in Thanchowk her whole life, knowing very little about the outside world. Up until she lost her vision, Jun earned a living for herself and her family through farming.
But when her vision began deteriorating, her family suspected it was due to a refractive error and were keen to have her assessed by a team from the Tej Kohli & Ruit Foundation. Experts from the foundation confirmed that Jun was living with cataracts and that her sight loss was needless.
